YOUR Chamber team is growing, giving us more opportunities to serve our members and champion business growth and prosperity throughout Union County.
In July 2023, we welcomed Sydney Baker as the new Manager of Events and Programs. Sydney is already familiar with Union County as a 2023 graduate of Wingate University.
“I like this small community, family kind of vibe in Union County. I really love the welcoming feeling,” Sydney shared.
In her new role, Sydney will manage Chamber programs including Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Emerging Leaders, Leadership Union, Women in Business, and more. She will be the principal planner for Chamber events.
“We are delighted and proud to welcome Sydney to the Chamber Team. Sydney brings a wonderful heart for service and an energy for making things happen. The Team and I look forward to working with her and introducing her to our community,” according to President and CEO Pat Kahle.
Sydney is a North Carolina native, having grown up near High Point North Carolina. While she graduated from Wingate with a degree in Psychology, she has decades of experience with events.
“I grew up in church. My parents are pastors, so we did lots of events that I helped with growing up. While it may not be what I majored in, I realized I have been doing events my whole life, and I really enjoy it. I’ve always had a sense of love for community. That’s also what I loved about Wingate University. I met friends who are like family now. We know each other’s families. One friend, his mom calls me every time he doesn’t answer the phone. The staff and faculty there are such huge advocates for their students. ”
While attending Wingate, Sydney served as a Marketing Assistant, and mentored underclassmen while serving as a Resident Assistant.
She is eager to learn the ropes and begin serving businesses in Union County. “I am looking forward to seeing ideas come to fruition, the work come together, and how that impacts businesses.”
Outside of work, Sydney is a foodie, and enjoys visiting new restaurants, hiking with friends, or hanging out with her dog.
