Small Business Program

2022 Program Sponsor

The purpose of the Small Business Program is to help our small business members survive and thrive. We endeavor to do this by leveraging the expertise of our members through quarterly breakfasts where we bring in subject-matter experts to educate members on key success areas.  We also collaborate with community partners such as the Small Business Center at South Piedmont Community College and SCORE to help provide advice and counseling for Small Business Members.

What could $10,000 do to grow your business?

South Piedmont’s Small Business Center is kicking off the third year of the ’53 Ideas Pitch Competition’ aimed at providing capital, training, and connections to help local businesses.

  • Do you have a new product or service line you want to launch?
  • Are you looking to sell to a new market segment?
  • Do you have a new innovative idea you need funding for?

Pitch your big idea for the chance to win $10,000 for your business.

To enter, all you have to do is record a video where you share your new product, service line, market segment or idea. Tell who you are, what your idea is, the problem it solves, how it is new or superior to an existing product or service, and how you can make it happen. Both new businesses and existing businesses expanding in one of the areas above can enter.

You don’t have to be a pitch pro. There are easy to follow instructions for submitting your video at

The contest opens May 1, 2022, and video entries must be submitted by May 31, 2022.

Training and coaching on pitching, financing, forecasting and general business will be available to every participant, even if they do not make the top 53.  The top 53 contestants will move on in the competition and receive training to help prepare a 3-minute pitch for the next round of the competition. The top 10 contestants will receive $250 and the opportunity to compete in the Pitch Day finale. The winner will receive $10,000, second place will get $5,000, and third place $2,500 to help turn their idea into a viable business.
