These challenges helped inform the theme of Enough for the 2024 Women in Business Conference, scheduled for May 9, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Union County Agricultural Center (3230-D Presson Rd, Monroe, NC 28112).
At Enough, you’re not just attending another conference. You’re taking valuable time to step away from the stress of the world to focus on you – not the roles that you play or the titles you hold.
The conference will include presentations from 3 inspiring women who’ve have learned deep, valuable lessons about their inherent worth.
Michelle Lancaster – When You Can’t Get Enough
Michelle currently serves in the role of Executive Director for Julia’s Community – a non-profit focused on providing support and opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
She has more than 25 years of experience as a Local Government Executive and Community Advocate driving mission-critical results that make a positive difference in the lives of children, families, and the entire community. She is highly skilled in strategic planning, building dynamic teams, establishing and maintaining successful relationships, and steering cultural change to blend diverse goals into one.
Michelle’s key accomplishments include multi-agency collaboration, engagement, and partnerships, realigning resources and services, and leading strategic high-visibility events and initiatives. Prior to joining Julia’s Community, she served as Deputy County Manager in Union County and prior to that she was an Assistant County Manager for Mecklenburg County.
She has served on the board of the United Way of the Central Carolinas/Union County Advisory Board and serves currently as the Union County Arts Council Board Chair, during her local government career she was a member of the International City/County Manager’s Association and the North Carolina City/County Manager’s Association. She was the recipient of the 2010 Charlotte’s 40 Under 40 award and the recipient of the 2015 Assistant Manager of the Year award from the North Carolina City/County Manager’s Association.
Lancaster is a native North Carolinian and was born in Rutherford County. She and her husband, Brian, live in Huntersville. They have two sons, one of whom has Down Syndrome. She is a strong advocate for children living with disabilities,
Brigida Mack – When You’re Had Enough
Brigida Mack is an engaging and dynamic communicator. She has spent nearly two decades honing her skills. First, as an award-winning TV news anchor and now, as a motivational speaker, host and content creator.
A native Charlottean, Brigida has carefully built her brand – a unique combination of authenticity, credibility and an engaging personality. As a result, she’s amassed a large following in the Charlotte region (and beyond) and is known as someone people can trust but also connect with on an authentic and personal level.
Over the many years of her career as a broadcast journalist, Brigida covered the 2007 Virginia Tech mass shooting, the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, more than half a dozen hurricanes and even an earthquake in Central Virginia! She has interviewed former President Jimmy Carter, the first woman to serve as Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (over froyo, no less!), CBS This Morning’s Gayle King as well as noted celebrities including Rachael Ray, Jeff Daniels, rapper/actor Common, actresses Sissy Spacek, Rosario Dawson and America Ferrera, along with comedians John Witherspoon, Pauly Shore and the late Charlie Murphy.
The N.C. Associated Press honored Brigida in 2012 when she won its “Best Series” award for her heart-warming series, “Pass 3 On.”
She strives to encourage, uplift and educate others not only with her powerful and engaging content on social media but also whenever she serves as a speaker, host and moderator.
She is also a dedicated mental health advocate and impassioned about helping others commit to an active and healthy lifestyle.
In 2013, Brigida founded her “TeamNOSugar” 30-day challenges. She transformed her life and health, by giving up processed and added sugars and committing to her physical and mental health. Along the way she’s inspired thousands to join the movement and change their lives on “TeamNOSugar.”
Kamella Emmanuel – Defining Enough
Kamella Emmanuel is the CEO of Keep Evolving Consulting and an Executive Coach. Originally from the United Kingdom, Kamella spent over 15 years working in Leadership Development for the British Embassy as a diplomat in locations across the world. These Embassy posts included serving more than four years in King-ston, Jamaica and over three years in Abuja, Nigeria and three to six months in Indonesia and Thailand.
Kamella has a B.S. in Public Administration and Education from the University of Surrey in London, England, and is a Certified Diversity Practitioner and Professional Executive Coach.
Kamella has been featured on Fox 46, WURD Radio, and Collective Conversations as a leading Diversity expert on Implicit Bias and Inclusion in the workplace.
Her ability to captivate her audience has allowed her to engage with cross-cultural leaders to build a successful international career.
She has consulted with and coached many leaders and executives in micro-inequities, cultural diversity, cultural competencies, inclusive recruiting, and organizational change. She is a highly inclusive leader who connects individuals and creates the conditions for formal and serendipitous collaboration to occur.
Kamella is skilled in explaining and talking about how inclusion should connect to the mission and organizational structures. She creates processes that add value, focus on efficiency, as well as meet company objectives.
