In 2023, the Union County community lost a great man when Eric Dixon, Chairman of the Union County Chamber Board of Directors passed away.
Eric was employed at ATI in Monroe, was an active participant in Make It In Union County, and was Chair of the 2023 Union County NC Chamber Board of Directors. Additionally, he was involved with several other civic and nonprofit organizations.
In addition to being a husband, father, mentor, and friend, Eric was a leader in our community. He joined the Chamber’s Board in 2017, joined the Board’s Executive Committee in 2020, and became Chairman in 2023. Chamber President and CEO Pat Kahle shared, “Eric provided thoughtful leadership, high energy, wise counsel, a commitment to excellence, and a genuine love for our community. We miss his warm smile, infectious laugh, and above all, his heart for serving others.”
At the Make It In Union County Annual Celebration Breakfast, Board of Directors Treasurer Fred Edwards with Goulston Technologies announced the creation of the Eric Dixon Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships to South Piedmont Community College students interested in manufacturing, trades, and apprenticeships.
Make It In Union County will continue to contribute to the scholarship fund. In addition, the Chamber presented a donation to the scholarship fund at the 2023 Annual Awards Dinner. We were honored to have Eric’s wife, Joyce, and his children Davis and Mya along with his family and friends at the event. Immediate Past Chair Denise White with Atrium Health invited Davis to the state to present the check to Maureen Little, Executive Director of the South Piedmont Community College Foundation.
