“Our goal at the end of the day is this: local businesses really are the backbone of a community. We want them to prosper. And we want to be a part of their journey, to help facilitate that success and make the community the best that it can be.”

Catapult Employers Association provides employers with seasoned HR advice, outsourced HR services, recruiting support, learning, professional development, and more. The company was formed in 2021 when Capital Associated Industries of Raleigh and the Triad and The Employers Association of Charlotte merged to form a powerful organization serving more than 2,000 employers across the Southeast.

Kiera Stephan, Communications Specialist at Catapult, shared more about the company and how it helps tackle HR challenges for businesses of all sizes.

About Catapult Employers Association

We are incredibly member-focused as an organization. We actively collect and analyze wage and salary, and benefits data to provide businesses intelligence they can use to make informed decisions. Our seasoned HR professionals work with members on immediate and long-term goals. Members also have access to our library of resources. The data we assemble is pulled from  local employers and is an accurate source for research. We also facilitate peer-to-peer connections to help build their network of support for one another.

We work with diverse and dynamic employers. We’ve worked with employers who have just a few employees and are an HR team of one, or, some who may be an HR team of none where they have people wearing multiple hats. Then we also work with employers who have thousands of employees and a really built-out HR department.  It’s rewarding to watch employers with thousands of employees networking with smaller organizations and leveraging each other’s strengths.

Working with Catapult

The first step in working with us is building a personal connection. Then, we are able to tailor our solutions based on the needs of our members. For example, we partnered with a large Union County employer on a customized Leadership Academybased on our flagship program The Management Advantage™. It’s been very successful because we were able to personalize it so that the employees have been able to be open, talk through relevant challenges, and grow closer.

We have experts who have experience in a wide variety of areas, including education, healthcare, information technology, and more. Along with membership, we offer solutions around pre-employment, learning, strategic HR, and more. One of our more popular services is our live chat. There’s always a person available. It’s never a bot. It’s one of our HR advisors  there to help answer any questions that come through.

We’re  actively working to expand our learning and development offerings to employers in Union County and beyond. One of the ways we’re doing that is through an advocacy program. As a founding member of the Employers Coalition of North Carolina, https://letscatapult.org/about/employer-advocacy/

A Long Legacy and Promising Future

While Catapult was recently formed as an organization, we have this long legacy of the two companies that came together with  65 years of experience on both sides. We have this dynamic startup approach, but we also have this rich legacy of community and service, so it’s combining that too.

It’s a unique atmosphere to be a part of. We work with a remote-first mindset, and then we come in with scheduled intentional collaboration days.  We’ve really found great success in that, and all our employees thrive in this workplace culture.

Community is such a core value for us. We work to instill that in our employees. We want to expand our support from local to the state, to really the whole southeast region. It goes back to those small businesses as the backbone. It’s really wanting to invest in their success because, again, that’s where our employees are living. They’re working. They’re sharing experiences in these communities. If we can do our part, in uplifting the communities, and supporting them, making them thrive, then that’s what we want to continue doing.
