Business and industry across the region recognize South
Piedmont as an important ally. SPCC’s on-site customized
training programs equip men and women for the high-demand,
high-paying careers of today and of the future.
SPCC also operates the Union County Early College in
conjunction with Union County Public Schools to provide
local high school students the opportunity to earn both a high
school diploma and an associate’s degree in a college transfer
program through a five-year program. The college offers a
similar program in Anson County as well.
South Piedmont Community College’s status as an “up-and-
comer” among the state’s 58 community colleges is good news
for everyone who lives and works in the communities it serves,
and the college makes Union and Anson counties better places

Founded in 1896, Wingate University is an independent

university with 3,500 students on campuses in Wingate,
Ballantyne (Charlotte) and Hendersonville, North Carolina. At
the Union County campus, Wingate University offers bachelor’s
degrees in 35 undergraduate majors, master’s degrees in
accounting and physician assistant studies, and doctorates in
pharmacy and physical therapy.
Evening and weekend classes are offered at the Ballantyne
campus for adults who wish to complete a bachelor’s degree,
get an MBA or a master’s in sport management, and for
teachers and school administrators seeking to obtain special
licensures or pursue master’s or doctoral degrees in education.
At all degree levels, Wingate emphasizes small class sizes,
personal attention and hands-on learning. With Wingate’s core

Wingate student-athletes compete in 22
NCAA Division II sports. The university

Conference Echols Athletic Excellence
