Chamber Events Descriptions

 

The Union County Chamber strives to be a valuable resource for all business types and sizes. We try to have events that suit all levels within a business and have formed partnerships where possible to offer our members free to reasonably priced opportunities for personal and professional growth. We look at our programing as evolving so if you have an idea for a program please feel free to contact us a anytime.
 

Annual Spring Golf Tournament

In the spring, members enjoy a relaxing day of golf while networking with clients, friends and sponsors. The Chamber’s golf tournament is a captain’s choice format with approximately 160 golfers during a one-day tournament held at a member golf course each year.


 

Annual Meeting and Year-in-Review

This annual dinner event draws close to 300 Chamber members, elected officials and guests. It features a keynote speaker, a review of current years accomplishments and a report on the following year goals. WE recognize the Volunteer and the Ambassador of the Year at this event. Mark you calendars for this event that is held annual the first Thursday in December.


 

Business After Hours - Held the Third Thursday
of Every Month!

Business After Hours is an innovative way for members and prospects to meet people outside their industry and share information with business people who have similar interests. During Business After Hours, business representatives meet new Chamber members, catch up with old friends and learn tips from others. All of these benefits are presented in an informal environment timed perfectly at the end of the business day so as not to interrupt workday responsibilities.


 

Business Leaders’ Breakfasts

These quarterly programs are offered to educate members on pertinent business, community, and state issues. Business Leaders’ Breakfast is one of the best networking opportunities with a mix of members including multilevel executives, small business owners, manufacturers, sales representatives, non-profit directors and more.


 

Business Networking Luncheons

These monthly programs are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month......

 


 

Excellence in Business Awards

The Excellence in Business Award recognizes businesses and individuals that have demonstrated outstanding performance, growth, staying power and have proven leadership in the community. Categories include, Business Man & Business Woman of the Year, Business Hall of Fame, Small Business of the Year, Mid and Large size Business of the Year, and Corporate Spirit Award. This event is held annually in April and typically draws close to 150 area leaders.


 

Health Fair

The mission of the Union County Chamber’s Health Fair is to build community awareness of the many quality health and wellness organizations that are available in our area. Participating businesses will provide a host of healthcare screenings, services, information and activities. The event is free and open to all employees of member companies and the community. This event is held annually.

 

Leadership Union

Leadership Union operates an annual, 10 month leadership development program in which the participants meet with community leaders, explore key issues impacting our region, receive leadership training, and undertake class service projects.


 

Morning Brew!

The Morning Brew! is a Business Before Hours power networking event created to provide members additional opportunities to meet new people, build stronger business relationships and share information with members who have similar interests. These events are held bi-monthly and are open to all Chamber members and invited guests.


 

New Member Orientation

Held once a quarter, the New Members Orientations provide an opportunity for new members to learn about all the opportunities the Chamber offers.


 

Ribbon Cuttings and and Openings

A basic function of the Chamber, ribbon cuttings and grand opening celebrations are now a “hot ticket”. Members with new facilities, office stores, etc., or breaking ground on property receive the royal treatment from Chamber Ambassadors, Board members and staff as the ceremonial “cutting of the ribbon” or “turning of the dirt” takes place. Billed to new members as a photo opportunity, these events provide a free promotion and are included in the eBizLink email newsletter and photos are submitted to all Chamber media contacts.


 

Safety Awards

Each year, Union County manufacturers are recognized by the North Carolina Department of Labor for their stellar work in maintaining safe work environments. The NC Commissioner of Labor and their staff attend the and present the awards at this annual luncheon typically held in May. This extremely popular event typically attracts 150 attendees. The audience is made up of executives, plant managers, safety managers, and human resource directors from across all of Union County.


 

Small Business Seminars

Beginning in September 2011, the Union County Chamber and South Piedmont Community College formed a partnership to offer FREE seminars to small business members. These events have focused on topics including, Social Networking, General Accounting, QuickBooks, Woman Owned Small Business Certifications and many more. This exciting program will continue through June 2012.


 

Union County Human Resources Association Luncheons

With a strong partnership from the Chamber, the Union County Human Resources Association Luncheon (UCHRA) offers 12 monthly meetings to keep human resources professionals and small business owners apprised of HR trends, practical solutions to HR problems, and legal requirements for employers regarding their employees. The UCHRA luncheons are considered to offer some of the best networking, idea sharing, and updated information on law changes and expectations. The UCHRA is an affiliated chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management.


 

Women in Business

This series is designed to support the development of professional women through innovative and creative programming. The series feature a keynote speaker or panel to discuss issues or topics unique to professional women. Each event provides opportunities for growth, networking and making connections. This event is held quarterly and typically draws well over 100 leaders from Union County.
 

Youth Leadership Union

The purpose of Youth Leadership Union is to train students in leadership techniques and community awareness so that they may become familiar with current issues, community resources, opportunities, and other factors influencing the direction of Union County’s future. Participation in the program will help prepare students to make a positive impact on the quality of life in their communities. Youth Leadership Union is an initiative of the Union County Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Union County Public Schools and its JobReady Partnership.
